Fire Station #4

Independence, MO—Fire Station #4

The City of Independence commissioned a new fire station to replace a one-bay station built in the 1950's. Also designed as a prototype for additional stations, this state of the art 2.5 million dollar fire station is a 7,500 sq. ft., three-bay, energy efficient building. Completed in 2008, this design accommodates a two-company fire station and uses quality, durable materials such as a brick and block and concrete tile roof. These materials compliment the commercial nature and yet create a smooth transition into the residential neighborhood. This prototype design has since been successfully modified by BDY staff for a smaller site for the Independence Fire Station #3 which was completed in July 2009.

*This project was completed as part of WBI Architects portfolio prior to merging with BDY in June 2008.
