	Sydney SuperDome Berger Devine Yaeger, as part of the Millennium Consortium, designed the new Arena for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. BDY served as Sports Architect to the Consortium, working in conjunction with the Sydney firm of Cox Richardson Architects. The Arena hosted gymnastics and basketball during the 2000 Olympics, but is being utilized for a wide variety of additional events after the Games. The venue also hosted indoor competition for the 2000 Paralympic Games. The facility seats 15,000 spectators for Olympic events and up to 20,000 for concerts and other planned events. The arena is located in the Homebush Bay precinct of Sydney which was the principal venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Situated at the northern end of Olympic Boulevard, the arena served as the gateway venue to the Olympic competition venues. The building is framed by a coronet of masts as part of the tension cable supported roof. Designed to provide the building with a unique international identity, the masts announce the facility as the premier indoor venue in Australia. The total project cost was $200 million.
