Executive Orders
Executive Orders is a sit-down restaurant concept by Centerplate, in the new Washington Convention Center. The concept employs seven separate food stations scattered throughout the restaurant area, each serving freshly-prepared menus. Each station (Deli, Mexican, Italian, American Grill, Asian, Seafood, and Pizza) is of an elegant modern design attuned to the menu theme of each station. Some stations are operated by premier restaurateurs such as Wolfgang Puck and Tosca. Unity is brought to the overall restaurant design by establishing similar boundary sizes for each station, employing consistent ceiling materials and light fixture styles at each, and using a consistent floor pattern, ceiling plane, and lighting design throughout the dining areas.
Executive Orders project received Honorable Mention in the Facility Design Project of the Year by Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine May 2005 issue. The judges lauded this project for its "great" use of a long, narrow space and the use of equipment. The judges felt the behind-the-scenes storage was ingenious and efficient.
